GoneGuly??

I am blogging after a fair length of time, and it is indeed about one of the most fascinating and intriguing cricketers of this generation. Saurav Ganguly, also happens to be India's most successful cricket captain ever. Ganguly's career has never been short of drama, he came into the Indian team as 19 year old on the ill-fated 1991 tour of Australia and was then shunted out of the team for 4 long years. The manager on that tour (Ranbir Mahendra) acussed him of being snooty and refusing to carry drinks ;-).He came back in 1996, for the England tour and since then has pretty much never looked back, till now that is. Along the way have been plenty of highs and some sobering lows. All in all, Ganguly's biggest contribution came more as a leader than as a player, for helping Indian cricket turn the corner, following the match fixing scandal in 2000. He brought that much needed "steel" to Indian cricket and united a bunch of young talented cricketers

However, in the last couple of years Ganguly has not quite looked the vintage batsman that he once was, and his declining fitness and fielding has meant that he has probably made way for the younger crop of batsman one last time....
